Imagine!

Remember Mark David Chapman? If you do not, he is the man that murdered John Lennon nearly twenty-seven years ago. He was recently denied parole and rightly so. I do not think that this man should ever be freed. I guess I would say the same about anyone who took another persons’ life. But hearing this bit of news got me to thinking about John Lennon and his song Imagine.

I remember that as a child I enjoyed singing along whenever the song was played on the radio. But it wasn’t until later in life that I learned what a powerful song that it truly is. With the wars going on around the world, the poverty, the hunger, and religious upheaval across the globe, I thought about Imagine today. I downloaded and played it several times. A tear welled up in one eye! Lyrics appear under the video.

Imagine there’s no Heaven
It’s easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for todayImagine there’s no countries
It isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
And the world will live as one

Notice the “no countries”…that’s anarchy! On a TDO post about anarchy, I replied to someone who said I was a dreamer (may have been Fakename) by using: You may say that I’m a dreamer
But I’m not the only one
I hope someday you’ll join us
