Sarah Barracuda!

The Republican Machine has found its pitbull and we know how scary they can be.  And her name is Sara Palin!  Last night, in her acceptance speech as the vice president nominee, she went after Obama like a Michael Vick dog.  If I were a right wing fanatic I just might have believed the vitriol she was spewing.  It was an address very heavy with rhetoric and actually no substance.

During her speech I did not hear anything about healthcare.  I did not hear anything about education. I don’t think I heard anything about the economy either.  On all of the important issues facing this country, I heard nothing!  Absolutely nothing!  And that is frightening.  During both the Obama and Biden acceptance speeches they clearly laid out what direction they want to take America in.  All the pitbull did was to throw the salivating base plenty of red meat.

But sooner or later she will have to answer questions and make her positions known.  But she doesn’t want to.  Roger Simon has a must read at Politico.com, http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0908/13143.html.   And to fully debunk Palin’s half truths and lies delivered during her acceptance speech please check out the following link.  http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080904/ap_on_el_pr/cvn_fact_check.  I am really tired of the shameful tactics that the Republicans resort to time after time.

The times we are facing are hard and some sacrifices are on the way.  I will feel much more comfortable under the leadership and judgment of the Obama and Biden team.  I don’t relish the idea of having two mavericks in the White House at the same time.  Look at what has happened with two warmongering idiots.  Besides, can we really be comfortable in knowing that one of Sarah Palin’s qualifications to be the Vice-President is that she knows how to properly field dress a moose?

    I don’t care what Obama says….

We know very well that if it was Obama’s daughter pregnant out of wedlock, the GOP (not necessarily McCain, but the usual suspects) would have a field day about “what it all means.”

So I say…point out the usual GOP hypocrisy and disconnect on family values. If her own daughter rejects her philosophy on abstinence, then how can she continue to preach it? Do as she says but not as her family does?

Sarah had a job to do with her speech and she did it very well. Her job was to shit the focus of the country to her and Obama thus diminishing his stature. It’s a fucking brilliant strategy. She is the “perfect” foil for McCain. And I agree with you about 2012 after 4 years as VP she will become the standard bearer for the GOP.

    Picture this Palin/Rice in 2012…….

ptfan1, don’t hold your breath for that to play out. you don’t think that mccain will be up for a second term? i agree that it is a good strategy but will it pay off for your side?

Yes I think him a one term pres and will announce in year 4 and she will be annointed heir to the party leadership.

Sorry about the rattlers last night, but looks like it was an exciting game.

Well, I also watched Palin’s speech a couple of nights ago, and I have to say that I pretty much agree with you, Nick. I have to admit that when I first heard about Governor Palin, I actually wanted to like her. I read the initial information posted about her; her stand against gun control (something I happen to agree with), her toughness and how she stood up to corruption, etc. So, it was with high hopes that I tuned in to watch her speech.

After suffering through Rudy’s usual “subject/verb/911” bit (BTW, does anyone else get creeped out every time they see this guy’s face?), Palin was announced and stepped to the podium. Then she proceeded to say nothing of any substance at all. Only after that did I start digging around to find more information, and found that she was an anti-choice advocate of abstinance only sex ed, a fundamentalist Christian, that she was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it, etc. Needless to say, I was a bit disappointed that she used her time on stage to cut down the competition. I guess that maybe ptfan1 is right about that being her job, but I was still hoping for some substance amongst the insults.

On the TD site, ptfan1 made the comment that Palin was picked for her ability to make up for McCain’s lack of charisma, which makes sense. I think that if that is all they wanted from her, that they made a brilliant choice. I don’t want her leading the country though.

BTW, Nick, thanks for continuing to post in your usual manner. The TD site is pretty much breaking down into both Repubs and Dems hurling nastier and nastier insults at one another. It makes one weary going through all of that.

Well, I’m not blogging, but it seems that all of my favorite bloggers have moved over here to WordPress. I’ll just leave the writing in coherent sentences to those that do it best.
    😉

Oh, I meant to comment on the blog awards post you made that it seems deadrat may be back in the guise of fsulawkyle. At first I thought the writing of insults was done too intelligently to be deadrat, but once I saw the ebonics today it hit me.

Thanks for the heads up. I’ll check it out and see if I can abuse him some more. LOL
