Is it just me or is anyone else a little leery of the special session that just concluded by the Florida Legislature? After all, the Speaker of the House has a Tiger Beat poster of Richard Nixon in his legislative locker. This poor dumb bastard makes Blagojevich look like Einstein! I guess what I really want to know is why we should we have a special session conducted by the same idiots that got us into this mess in the first place? We want to cut $100 million from the education budget and increase prison construction by $300 million, a great plan for success. Any moron can tell you that those affected by the former will most assuredly end up in the latter. I guess I should thank the Republicans for putting the issue of affordable housing for minorities and the poor at the top of their agenda! As Gunnery Sergeant Hartman would say “Ray Sansom, the best part of you ran down the crack of your mother’s ass and winded up as a brown stain on the mattress!”
Speaking of Sansom, he allocated some $25 million dollars to a community college that no one else in the state of Florida has ever heard of. It seems that one of his buddies needed an airplane hangar to keep his planes safe from the rain. Problem is he needed to tie it to educational purposes. The solution was to use the restrooms as classroom to teach some rubes how to clean the restrooms on his buddies’ planes. And for his efforts he was rewarded with a $100,000 dollar a year job as Vice President in charge of dropping those blue plastic cakes into the toilet bowls. However, he was caught smoking in one of the johns and had to resign his job. I’d feel more comfortable had he resigned as Speaker of the House.
Today it was learned that 66 probation officers have been layed off due to budget constraints. One layed off worker explained that he was responsible for the supervision of 150 offenders. If the same number is indicative of the other layed off probation officers that means that there are nearly 10,000 people about to resume their careers in crime.
I for one believe that cuts should begin at home; by this I mean that the legislature should cut the salaries of all elected officials to $0.00. I mean, it is called public service after all. And Sansom should be stripped of his speakership and expelled from the legislature on general principle. And if not on general principle, then at least for that sad ass letter he wrote trying to explain himself.
We all know what the Capitol represents. Try not to be caught in an ackward position when it comes looking for you!
